5 Android Open Source Apps You Should Be Using In 2022
One of the main reasons why you would want to download open source apps on your phone is because of the transparency (so you can make sure that there’s nothing fishy going on), mostly they are ad free, they do what they are supposed to do and what they meant to do, they also have a lot of downloads and a lot of trusts built on them.
What are open source applications?
Open source Application is software with source code that anyone can view, modify and enhance. Source code allows seeing how the application was made.
I hope that could explain open source applications to you guys and with that being said let’s jump straight to the applications.
5 Best Android Open Source Apps
Brave
If you are a privacy concerned user this browser is for you. With an in-built ad-blocker, incognito tabs, and a native Tor connection, Brave will be the best choice.
To make things even better, Brave has its own privacy-focused search engine. While it lacks in search quality compared to Google, it does not track your searches or your clicks.
As we all know we are heading to the WEB 3.0 era, Brave provides you “Brave Wallet” and it also gives you the opportunity to earn BAT (Basic Attention Token) while surfing the internet.
I think it’s one of the best Browser that you can ever download on your phone. So Brave Browser first open source application I would highly recommend, be sure to check it out.

Amaze File Manager
Being an app that is completely ad-free and has no sort of ads whatsoever which is what I really like in a third-party file managing application. One of the good things about this one is, just how clean and minimal the design is.
Now, of course, a file manager other than being clean and minimal also needs to do a lot of other things to be productive, good at extracting different files, be good at basically all your file management needs so that you can move files from one folder to the other.
This application has all of that and more so you’ve also got a lot of FTP server support. You have a separate section for Apks for videos for audio. You can click on the plus button to create a new cloud connection, new file, and folder. These services are never ending and you know just because of the fact that this application does what it says in a really good way and also because it’s free. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Bitwarden
Bitwarden is one of the well-known password managers in the industry. Thanks to its visual appeal and features, it is on par with a commercial product. If you didn’t know better, you’d think this was a top-tier commercial password manager.
Bitwarden is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. Apart from that, it has unlimited syncing, extensions for all major browsers, intelligent categorization, and an in-built password generator.
It’s easy to set up, and easy to use and It also supports auto-fill. All your data is encrypted via military-grade AES 256-bit encryption, making your passwords virtually impenetrable. Bitwarden offers free and paid plans and a great deal of customization capability, depending on how many features you need.

Lawnchair 2
Lawnchair is a completely free and open source Launcher. If you haven’t used it before, it’s a very neat and clean android home screen replacement. I am personally a Nova person but Lawnchair also has been my choice of the launcher in between for a lot of months and probably even a year.
It’s very clean and very minimal you’ve got all the settings that you would want in a custom launcher but it also doesn’t take up a lot of space. It’s not very flashy, it’s very simple, and yeah it’s just a no-nonsense launcher.
If you want to use something like this and you want to change up your current home screen setup with a different launcher but you still like the clean material design look, I think Lawnchair is the way to go, be sure to check it out.

AnySoftKeyboard
AnySoftKeyboard is an open source keyboard alternative to Gboard with a clean and straightforward design. It values simplicity over a raft of fancy tools, but still has plenty of customization options. And while it includes useful features like voice input and gesture typing, you won’t see pop-ups and suggestions for various unique features you’ll probably never use.
