On Jul 11, 2022, Twitter wrote a post announcing the feature called “Leave Conversation”.
“Sometimes you want to see yourself out. Take control of your mentions and leave a conversation with Unmentioning, now rolling out to everyone on all devices.”
How to Unmention Yourself From a Twitter Threads?
Step 1: Open the Twitter thread that you don’t want to be a part of.
Step 2: Go to the tweet in which you have been mentioned.
Step 3: Tap on the ‘Leave This Conversation’ option.
Step 4: Then confirm your selection by tapping on the Leave option again.

When you use the ‘Unmentation’ feature, it unlinks your Twitter handle from the Twitter thread, so you will not be tagged on future Tweets and others will not be able to reply to you from the same thread. Also read: How to generate or reset your ATM Card’s PIN?
How does Twitter Unmentioning Works?
- It will remove the link to your Twitter profile from the original tweet and all replies.
- This prevents people from mentioning you again in the same conversation.
- This prevents any further notifications about the conversation you were tagged in.
