MultiVersus is Buffing Wonder Woman
It looks like the next MultiVersus character boost will be Wonder Woman, though the update may not arrive for a while yet.
The Open Beta for Super Smash Bros – MultiVersus opened last week, and players are already figuring out which fighters are strong and which fighters are weak. The good news is that no MultiVersus fighter feels unusable, but that doesn’t mean some can’t use a buff or two. However, only developer Player First Games knows what balance changes are in store. Offering a glimpse of what’s to come, it has been confirmed that Wonder Woman will be the beneficiary of the upcoming buff.
MultiVersus Fighter Wonder Woman is Geting Buff
MultiVersus Game Director Tony Hyun has been incredibly active on Twitter over the past several weeks, interacting with players by answering questions and cheering on contestants. A MultiVersus player recently asked Huynh if Wonder Woman could be buffed, linking a conversation, taking issue she had with her cooldown and hitbox. Huynh took note of the Twitter post and responded, confirming that Wonder Woman would be getting some buffs.
However, there is a catch with regards to the Wonder Woman news. While she may be getting the buff, it won’t be instant. Player First Games is currently planning to release its next substantial patch after the EVO 2022 fighting game tournament. Huynh confirmed this in his tweet, saying that Wonder Woman buffs will be “in the build after EVO.” EVO runs from August 5th to August 7th and the next update Season 1 is expected to launch on August 9th.
Wonder Woman is particularly important to the MultiVersus in a way that the other characters are not. Wonder Woman is the only MultiVersus character that is given to each player permanently for free. It’s unlocked when players complete the Multiverse tutorial. Making sure Wonder Woman is competitive so that every player has a solid chance of succeeding once they start the game is a big deal. That’s not to say that the balance of the other characters isn’t a priority either. Wonder Woman is just the unique preference.
Wonder Woman isn’t the only MultiVersus fighter Huynh has talked about before the upcoming post-EVO update. He also mentioned that Bugs Bunny will be getting some balance changes. However, instead of buffs like Wonder Woman, the Bugs will be getting nerfed. They certainly aren’t the only two characters that will be affected by the upcoming balance changes, but they are some of the most interesting examples.
The post-EVO update is expected on August 9th when First Player Games delivers its Season 1 update for the MultiVersus . Season 1 will feature the first full Battle Pass of the MultiVersus, as well as Rick and Morty’s Morty as a playable fighter. MultiVersus will still be in open beta, with a full launch planned for later this year as Player First Games continues to polish the experience.
