WhatsApp is Testing New Feature To Protect Its Users From Hackers
WhatsApp is testing new feature, which are meant to further enhance the privacy of users. It has been suggested that the Meta-owned messaging platform will soon introduce login approval and phone number sharing features, as spotted by WABetaInfo. Here’s a look at what all these features are.
New WhatsApp Features in Testing
A recent report by WABetaInfo suggests that WhatsApp is planning to add login approvals. This is an additional security feature, which will come in handy if someone tries to log into your WhatsApp account from any other device when the 6-digit PIN is shared incorrectly.
If an attempt is made to log in from another device, WhatsApp will now send an in-app login request notification to the user. If you are not doing so, you can easily deny the request and protect your WhatsApp account from being misused.
This will come in addition to the double verification code, which is still being tested. When trying to log in from any other device it will show another verification code. However, you should know that both these features are under development and there is no word on when they will be ready for the users. You can still see what the login approval notification will look like in the screenshot below.
WhatsApp is also testing a phone number sharing feature that will hide your number from certain WhatsApp groups and newly announced communities.
With it disabled by default, your number will not be visible, making it easier for you to maintain your privacy when you are part of an unknown group or sub-group. It will be available under group settings and can be enabled if you want to share the number. Check it out below.
Apart from this, another report by WABetaInfo states that WhatsApp has started rolling out emoji reactions to disappear status for some beta users. As part of the test, there will be 8 emoji options, which include a smiling face with heart eyes 😍, a face with tears of joy 😂, a face with an open mouth 😃, a crying face 😭, folded hands 🙏, clapping 👏, a party popper 🎉, and hundred points 💯.
Recently WhatsApp is testing a feature which will give group admin the power to delete any group members’ messages for everyone.
It remains to be seen when the status emoji reactions, along with the above privacy features, roll out to the general audience. We’ll let you know more about it once we have some. So, stay tuned, and share your thoughts on it in the comments below.
