Google Pixel Fold Leaked – Check All Details
Google recently launched the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro along with the new Pixel Watch. But there are rumors of Google debuting a new foldable with the Pixel tablet next year.
Google Pixel Fold Leaked
In recent weeks, Google has given us a glimpse at its upcoming Pixel tablet, but it hasn’t revealed anything about the Google Pixel Fold. Now a new leak sheds some light on the display and fingerprint sensor that we might see on the company’s first foldable.
Leaker and developer Kuba Wojciechowski mentioned on the 91 Mobiles, that the foldable will measure 123 x 148 mm when opened, which corresponds to a 7.57-inch display. According to the report, the inner display’s resolution is 2208 x 1840. As well as the 7.6-inch inner display, these specs are very similar to those of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The Pixel Fold, apparently referred to as “Felix” internally, could also get a 120Hz refresh rate display like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 – although the developer wasn’t entirely sure about that. Google’s foldable could be brighter than the Fold 4 – the display on the inside is reported to get 1200 nits of peak brightness, with an average brightness of 800 nits. The Fold 4’s main panel recorded a maximum of 905 nits.
A report by 9to5Google mentions that the Pixel Fold’s external display could feature a 2100 x 1080 resolution. Although we don’t know the screen’s measurements, the leaked resolution suggests a slightly wider but smaller external screen than Samsung’s Fold 4’s 6.2-inch screen. Like the Pixel 7, there will also be a Pixel Fold reportedly getting the display panel from Samsung.
Pixel Fold fingerprint sensor
Apparently, Google is testing a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for two of its devices, according to 9to5Google. The report says that these could very well be the Pixel tablet and the Pixel Fold and they will be placed side by side, just like the Galaxy Z Fold series.
In the Pixel 6, Google encountered problems with its in-display fingerprint sensor, which greatly improved in the Pixel 6a and the Pixel 7 series. Considering the Pixel Fold will have multiple screens to unlock, Google could give us a traditional side-mounted fingerprint scanner to work with.
This also raises the question of whether Google will bring Face Unlock to the Pixel Fold. We noticed that Face Unlock has been added to the Pixel 7 series and it works quite well. It would be great to see it on Google’s foldable as well, given that Samsung packs it as well.
